Wagering Requirements Explained: Read the Small Print

A wagering requirement (or playthrough) is the number of times you must bet a bonus before any winnings become withdrawable. It’s the single most important term in any casino bonus.

How to calculate it

Multiply the bonus by the wagering number. A $100 bonus at 35x means $3,500 in total bets before cashout. Some offers apply wagering to deposit + bonus, which doubles the work — always check which.

Game weighting

Not all bets count equally:

  • Slots: usually 100%
  • Table games / live dealer: often 10–20%, sometimes 0%

So clearing wagering on blackjack can take five times longer than on slots.

Spotting an unfair bonus

Watch for very high wagering (40x+), short expiry windows, low max-bet caps while wagering, and winnings caps. A big headline bonus with brutal terms is worse than a smaller, fairer one — which is why we highlight low-wagering bonuses.

Frequently asked questions

What does 35x wagering mean?

You must bet the bonus amount 35 times before you can withdraw winnings. On a $100 bonus, that's $3,500 in total wagers.

What is good wagering for a casino bonus?

25x–35x is fair. Above 40x is demanding. Some low-wagering offers go as low as 20x or even 1x.

Does every game count toward wagering?

Not equally. Slots usually count 100%, while table games and live dealer often count 10–20% or less. Always check the weighting.
